The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) released a Questions & Answers document about the Infection Inspection Audit and Checklist on February 8, 2024. Several CMSCG clients have notified us that they have been contacted by DOH regarding this audit. Please take a moment to read through this document if it’s your turn – or even if you’re just awaiting your audit. The Q&A addresses the new infection control audit that was announced in DAL 23-16 in December 2023, as well as several key topics:

What’s particularly important to note is that DOH clarified that this new annual requirement for infection control is a desk audit and not an onsite visit. However, if a facility does not demonstrate compliance during this audit, the Q&A indicates that an onsite visit may occur as part of “routine” oversight by DOH.
