The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) also issued DAL NH 23-16, “Infection Inspection Audit and Checklist” on November 28, 2023. The DAL advises New York nursing homes that DOH has implemented an annual audit checklist to evaluate the facilities’ infection control competencies.
Beginning January 24, 2024, all nursing homes are required to adhere to the audit evaluation checklist, which is similar to the Focused Infection Control Survey and reviews infection control, PPE, staffing and cohorting, clinical care and communication. Failure to meet the audit metric will result in another audit within 90 days.
