Related to its announcement about changes to Nursing Home Compare and the Five Star Quality Rating System coming next month, the Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS) has released a new Technical Guide. The Design for Nursing Home Compare Five-Star Quality Rating System: Technical Users’ Guide (April 2019) includes details about the changes coming. These include:
- Health inspection rating returns to pre-February 2018 freeze
- Staffing rating thresholds are being updated
- QMs are being added, replaced, removed and thresholds will be continuously increased
- SFFs will not have any of their ratings displayed on Nursing Home Compare
