In a new Quality & Safety Special Alert Memo dated August 15, 2025, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a temporary pause in Nursing Home Compare updates. This announcement follows the July 14, 2025 transition of nursing home survey & certification data infrastructure from QIES to iQIES and multiple changes to Nursing Home Compare. The Memo notes that this transition was successfully completed.
Updates on Pause
To ensure that data is accurate and the integration continues to perform as expected, CMS is temporarily pausing monthly Nursing Home Compare Five Star Rating System updates. As of July 30, 2025 through the October 2025 refresh, all information and star ratings on Nursing Home Compare will remain static. The Memo reminds providers of their responsibility to ensure their most recent survey findings are displayed in a publicly accessible area.
