New York Eliminates Paper-Based CNA Certificates

On July 8, 2026, the New York State Department of Health (DOH) announced that effective August 1, 2026, paper-based Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificates will be eliminated.

The New York State Nurse Aide Registry (Prometric) can currently be accessed online for certificates.

Effective August 1, 2026, providers must use the Registry to verify certification status.
