On November 18, 2024 the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a new QSO Memo, “Revised Long-Term Care (LTC) Surveyor Guidance: Significant revisions to enhance quality and oversight of the LTC survey process.” The 902-page document includes revised surveyor guidance related to multiple areas, including, but not limited to:
- Admission, Transfer & Discharge
- Chemical/Restraints/Unnecessary Psychotropic Medication
- Resident Assessment
- Quality of Life
- Quality of Care
- Administration
- QAPI
- Infection Prevention and Control
These survey requirements are effective on February 24, 2025. CMSCG will be providing updates on this guidance in the coming days.
