The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a new QSO Memo on October 4, 2024. This Memo, “Revised: Updates to Nursing Home Care Compare Staffing and Quality Measures” (QSO-25-01-NH) includes revisions to QSO-23-21-NH (9/20/2023). Specifically, the timeline for adjusting the quality measures affected by the MDS G-GG transition has been revised to allow all affected QMs to be updated simultaneously. The impacted QMs include:
- Short-Stay – Percentage of Residents Who Made Improvements in Function
- Long-Stay – Percent of Residents Whose Need for Help with Activities of Daily Living Has Increased
- Long-Stay – Percent of Residents Whose Ability to Move Independently Worsened
- Long-Stay – Percent of High-Risk Residents with Pressure Ulcers
These QMs have been frozen since April 2024 and were expected to be unfrozen in October 2024. These measures will now be frozen until January 2025. No other changes to the information in the September 2023 QSO Memo were made.
