At the end of February, the Massachusetts Public Health Council approved new standards for the care being provided to residents with dementia who live in nursing homes. The new rules will require additional training for care givers providing direct care. There will be minimum requirements for dementia-specific activities for residents, along with other standards to ensure good quality of life is being provided to this population, including physical design standards.
