The Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) has released guidance on the inspections that will be conducted for nursing homes – both planned and unplanned. The inspections will cover five hazard areas including musculoskeletal disorders (related to resident handling), workplace violence, blood borne pathogens, tuberculosis and slips/trips/falls. Any of these hazards may be the subject of the inspection or can be reviewed if brought to the attention of the compliance officer.
Read the OSHA nursing home inspection guidance on the OSHA website. In May, OSHA updated its Workplace Violence Prevention Guidelines, which can be viewed here.
