The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a new Survey & Certification letter for all providers regarding termination notices. The Agency notes that it will post public notices for certified provider, supplier and lab involuntary terminations on the CMS S&C website. Public termination notices will remain for 6 months and then be removed.
The is immediately effective for all certified providers and suppliers with the exception of Ambulatory Surgical Centers, Federally Qualified Health Centers, Rural Health Clinics and Organ Procurement Organizations. For those provider types mentioned specifically (ASCs/ FQHCs / RHCs / OPOs), the effective date is October 1, 2017, as announced in the August 2, 2017 final rule CMS-1677-F. This rule eliminated the specific requirements for public notice publication of terminated Medicare provider agreements in local newspapers.
Termination Notices will be available on the CMS Survey & Certification website.
