While we have not repeated any Ftags of the Week on the CMSCG Blog since there are so many regulations to go through, we are breaking the trend this week given the shift in Infection Control emphasis by the regulators. Here are the CMSCG Ftags of the Week for the entire Infection Control regulatory group:
F880 Infection Prevention and Control
- F880 Infection Prevention & Control (Part 1) – Reviews the requirements for the Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP)
- F880 Infection Prevention & Control (Part 2) – Reviews precautions and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- F880 Infection Prevention & Control (Part 3) – Reviews the infection control requirements for linens
F881 Antibiotic Stewardship Program
A facility’s Infection Prevention and Control Program must include Antibiotic Stewardship protocols, so while you are reviewing your current IPCP, you may want to ensure this is included. You can view our Ftag of the Week, F881 Antibiotic Stewardship Program by visiting this link.
F882 Infection Preventionist Qualifications/Role
While we are sure providers have this Phase 3 Requirement in place (effective November 28, 2019), ensure that you’re following the regulatory requirements by visiting our Ftag of the Week for F882 by viewing this post. Now is as good a time as any to remind providers that it is a good idea to have more than one staff member who has participated in the appropriate Infection Preventionist training. You can find information about the CMS-CDC Nursing Home Infection Preventionist Course released in March 2019 here.
F883 Influenza and Pneumococcal Vaccinations
While there is no vaccine for COVID-19, as you are probably aware, you should check to ensure everything else is up to date, including your documentation that residents have been offered vaccinations and any refusals.
