In recent weeks, we’ve been hearing about how long it is taking to handle RAC audit appeals thanks to extremely ambitious RAC auditors. Various sources have noted that there is a backlog of over 350,000 cases and appeals from providers were being put on hold. Well, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) announced on February 18, 2014 that it needs to “transition down” the current contracts so RACs can finish outstanding claims.
