The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) released a Questions & Answers document about the Infection Inspection Audit and Checklist on February 8, 2024. Several CMSCG clients have notified us that they have been contacted by DOH regarding this audit. The Q&A addresses the new infection control audit that was announced in DAL 23-16 in December 2023, as well as several key topics:

What’s particularly important to note is that DOH clarified that this new annual requirement for infection control is a desk audit and not an onsite visit. However, if a facility does not demonstrate compliance during this audit, the Q&A indicates that an onsite visit may occur as part of “routine” oversight by DOH.
