New Jersey legislators looking to bolster nursing home CNA headcounts

US Map

In a recently proposed bill in New Jersey’s legislature, the minimum number of Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) in nursing homes is under question. The proposal includes minimum CNA to resident ratios to ensure residents are receiving care in a time manner. Proposed ratios include:

Ratio Shift
1 CNA: 6 Residents Day Shift
1 CNA: 9 Residents Evening Shift
1 CNA: 14 Residents Night Shift

New Jersey nursing homes that experience an increase in resident census would have nine consecutive shifts to address the ratio.
