CDC Considerations for Preventing COVID-19 in Assisted Living Facilities

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) updated its webpage, “Considerations for Preventing Spread of COVID-19 in Assisted Living Facilities” on May 29, 2020 and is now encouraging assisted living providers to participate in weekly reporting to the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) Long-Term Care Facility (LTCF) COVID-19 module. Assisted living facilities, the CDC notes, are not required to report like nursing homes are, but their participation is being encouraged.

The guidance also refers assisted living providers to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Recommendations for Reopening Nursing Homes and directs ALFs to follow state/local guidance regarding relaxing restrictions that may currently be in place.
