In an August 28, 2015 CMS S&C letter, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) noted that it has revised Section 20158 of the State Operations Manual (SOM) “HHA Change of Address.” The previous notification timeframe for Home Health Agencies (HHAs) to notify their Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) that they had changed their address was 30 days. That reporting timeframe was not consistent with the Provider Enrollment regulations, which allows for a 90 day period. As such, Section 2185 has been updated to state that when an existing HHA is relocating from its current surveyed and certified location to another location that the HHA must to notify the applicable MAC within 90 days of the move.
