New York State e-prescribing delayed to 2016

New York State’s e-prescribing mandate has been postponed. The regulation, which went into effect in March 2013, allowed two years for prescribers to implement the regulations. NYS Governor Cuomo signed legislation in March that postponed the implementation date to March 27, 2016, providing an extension of one year. This is due largely in part to many vendors having not received the required federal certification to allow prescribers to transmit e-prescriptions for controlled substances from the DEA.
