On July 3, 2014, CMS published an S&C letter that contains advance copy of multiple updates made to Appendix PP of the SOM and SOM Chapter 4. The letter, “Advance Guidance – Revisions to State Operations Manual (SOM), and Appendix PP – Guidance to Surveyors for Long Term Care (LTC) Facilities and Chapter 4,” (Ref: S&C: 14-37-NH) states that Interpretive Guidelines as well as some Investigative Protocols have been updated to incorporate changes put forth in S&C letters from October 2003-May 2014.
