“Managing Behaviors and Unnecessary Drugs” – LeadingAge NY Audio Conference 10.3.12

CMS Compliance Group’s President, Linda Elizaitis, will be leading an audio conference for LeadingAge NY on Wednesday, October 3rd. Linda will be discussing behaviors and unnecessary drugs, two key topics in the skilled nursing industry currently. Here’s some more information on this event:

Program Summary:
In July 2012, CMS announced an initiative to reduce the use of antipsychotic medication in nursing facilities thereby presenting a challenge to nursing staff who must now manage residents exhibiting behavioral issues related to cognitive disorders by using non-pharmacological interventions.  Because of this change, additional focus is needed on staff training in order to properly manage these issues.

In this session, participants will learn to:

  • Assess difficult behaviors;
  • Implement effective alternatives to pharmacological interventions; and
  • Understand the impact of F-329 in relationship to the QIS process

Target Audience: CEOs, Administrators, DONs, Nursing staff, Social workers, Recreation staff, Activity staff, Rehabilitation staff

Speaker: Linda Elizaitis, President, CMS Compliance Group, Inc.
