Earlier this week, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) updated its list of Coronavirus symptoms. While noting that individuals with COVID-19 may have a wide range of symptoms based on what has been reported, these are the signs and symptoms to look for:

  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

Or at least 2 of the following:

  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Repeated shaking with chills
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell

The updated list of symptoms should be considered by nursing facilities related to their employee, visitor and resident screening processes. While visitation is largely restricted in nursing homes currently, it is important to ensure that staff are aware of this list of symptoms for self-monitoring as well as resident monitoring purposes. View the CDC Symptoms of Coronavirus webpage for more information.
