The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a reminder that long term care facilities better be getting ready for the Payroll-Based Journal (PBJ). The voluntary data submission period ends on June 30, 2016, at which point the mandatory data submission period begins on July 1, 2016. CMS has been recommending that LTC facilities participate in the voluntary data submission period since the electronic staffing data submission rule was finalized in August 2015.
The specific data and required format for data submission has been provided by CMS, but those of you who have not taken a good look at it yet can find the PBJ Policy Manual with lots of useful information on the CMS website. The current version is PBJ Policy Manual (V2) 3-16-16. Training videos are also available on the QTSO website to assist users with setup.
