With last week’s announcement that Home Health Compare now includes patient star ratings, CMS has shown that it intends to increase transparency into the care provided by home health agencies. In July 2015, CMS published the first Quality of Patient Care Star Ratings which is based on OASIS assessments and Medicare claims data. The newly added Patient Star Ratings takes these rating a step further.
The star ratings are based on voluntarily submitted data from the Home Health Care CAHPS Survey (HHCAHPS) that measures patient experience of care provided by home health agencies. Data covering July 2014-June 2015 is now available on Home Health Compare and will be updated quarterly going forward.
