A few weeks ago, several Senators requested that the GAO assess the nursing home Five Star Quality Rating system to ensure that it is accurate and useful to consumers. The Five Star system was re-ranked earlier this year, in part due to scathing media coverage about its accuracy. According to an August 28, 2015 press release from Senator Bob Casey’s (D-PA) office, the GAO has agreed to conduct a review of the Five Star system. A timeline for the review has not yet been released.
